How To Create Your Own Mobile Marketing Plan
by Contributing Expert Author Shaniah Turner
In this 21st Century, it’s imperative to add mobile marketing to our Internet marketing campaigns and website presentation. It is estimated that at least 56% of internet users utilize mobile phones and tablets. How can you afford to miss out reaching over one half of the online marketplace?
With all of the different types of marketing that exist, it might be hard to track down what works best with which media type. In the case of mobile marketing, it is pretty easy to narrow down not only what media you want to focus on but also what audience. Read this article for some great tips.
Treat your customers like people – Instead of just bombarding them with sales information constantly, consider messaging them occasionally with relevant information to their everyday lives. If you find an interesting blog on saving money, for example, send them a link. This lets them know you are not just considering them to be a source of income for you.
Consider messaging them occasionally – Keep your mobile marketing messages short and sweet. Although many cell phone and smartphone users are signed up with plans that offer unlimited data transfers, not everyone has this luxury. If your ad consumes a great deal of their monthly allotment of data, chances are good that your efforts will go unappreciated and even resented.
Provide instant rewards – With mobile marketing, you can give your customers what they want, with no delays. Having a delay can make things lose their value or demand. People will participate in your marketing campaign hoping to get the promised reward. The quicker they get the reward, the happier they will be.
Timing is important – When sending out a reminder message in mobile marketing, you should always wait around two or three hours before the event of which you’re reminding people.
When sending out those reminders day in advance suggest they add your event to their calendar. This will help people to remember them. So an advance notice, then a short reminder, a few hours before your event will maximize your effectiveness.
First get their permission – You must get someone’s permission to send them messages. If you do not, it will be considered as spam and you could get in trouble over it. Ask people to sign up as customers, and have them tick a box that said they agree to receive promotional offers via their mobile phones.
Balance your mobile marketing within an integrated media strategy – Mobile marketing alone will not take your brand to the next level. Neither will direct mail or internet marketing alone.
Use an integrated multi-channel strategy – You need to develop a multi-channel strategy that works in harmony with each other to really tell the story of your brand. If you feel your mobile marketing strategy is acting on its own, now is the time to bring it into your larger marketing strategy.
Make a social marketing policy – Every business should have policies to help dictate proper behavior, and mobile marketing is no different. You should make sure that every member of your company is aware of and understands that policy, and take steps to ensure that it will be followed in any event.
In summation – There are a lot of different ways that you can get your message out there, but few are as direct as mobile marketing. As you saw by the examples in this article, it can be extremely beneficial if you know what you are doing. Hopefully, it works well for you.
